Charles K. Jett, Sr., 82, died April 15, 2012, after living for over 17 years with Parkinson's Disease. Charles was born in Norfolk, VA, and graduated from Maury High School and the College of William and Mary. He served in the Air Force and then worked in the American Embassy in Mexico City. He returned home to help run the family business, Jett & Company, with his father and brother. Subsequently, Charles founded Pre-Mix Industries, manufacturer of Quikrete and Spec-Mix products. He retired 38 years later, in 2004, with five plants in four states. Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne; and their four children, Charles Jr. (Lisa), Andrew (Ellyn), Stephanie (Steve Allen) and David. He loved his nine grandchildren, Charlotte Allen, Margaret Jett, Emily Jett, Austin Allen, Tom Jett, Ethan Jett, Sarah Jett, Matthew Jett and Ryan Jett. He is also survived by his brother, Lewis Archie Jett, Jr. Charles' passions were his family, his business, and his friends in the Float Fisherman of Virginia, Bent Creek Chapter. Floating, fishing, hiking and camping kept him busy in the summer and he loved to ski in the winter. The family appreciates his many caring companions over the years, especially Peggy. There will be a private memorial float on the Tye River this summer. St. Augustine said: "Let us not be sorrowful for having lost him, but rather thankful for having had him."
