Services for Charles L. Sciple will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 3:00pm at Stephens Funeral Home in Dekalb, MS with Rev. Jeff Morgan officiating. Burial with military honors to follow at Chamberlain Cemetery, Kellis Store community, Kemper County, MS. Visitation is prior to service from 1:00 to3:00pm. Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sciple, age 90, died June 6, 2016 n Starkville, MS. He was born on September 5, 1925 in Kemper County in the Sciple Mill Community. Charles served in World War II and received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star medal and numerous other commendations medals. He also served in the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts. He retired from State service while working on the campus of Mississippi State University. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1950 and did graduate work there from 1955 to 1956. He was a member of several clubs such as the Mississippi Agricultural Club, Cattlemen Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mississippi Employees Retirement Association and Sessums Community Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse T. Sciple and Josephine Pickett Sciple; brothers, J.T. Sciple, Everett Sciple and Bob Sciple and a sister, Mary Kathryn Sciple.
Charles is survived by his wife, Wynelle "Nell" Stafford Sciple of Starkville, MS; a son, Larry Sciple and wife, Lucie; three granddaughters: Levanah Sciple, Tara Sciple and Ema Sciple all of Joelton, Tennessee; two brothers, Jerry and Joe Sciple of Sciple Mill Community near DeKalb, MS.
