Charles L. Joyner Jr., age 80, of Colleyville, Texas passed away on December 30th in Southlake, Texas.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to those that knew and loved him. The middle of 3 boys, he was born on March 23, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Charles Sr. and Florence Joyner. He grew up in Canyon, Texas and graduated from Canyon High School — and was the first of three generations to proudly attend Texas Tech University.

In 1961, he married Gay Joyner, his loving wife of more than 56 years. The couple spent over 50 years in Irving and Colleyville, where they raised their two children. Charlie spent most of his professional career in the metal roofing industry, committed to both innovation and acts of giving back.

His legacy continues with the annual “Charlie Joyner Golf Classic” which financially supports DFW area students pursuing degrees in architecture or architectural engineering. His witty, kind, and generous personality endeared him to everyone he met.

Charlie is survived by his wife Gay Joyner, brother Bob Joyner and Sandy White of Irving; son David and wife Carrie Joyner of Southlake; daughter Cynthia Rogers and husband Brian of Flower Mound; and grandchildren Andrew and Kelly Joyner, Jaime and Carly Stilwell, Nathan and Jake Zitur, and Bailey and Trent Rogers.
