Charles P. "Chuck" Meiron, 80, of Greenview, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his residence. Chuck was born January 15, 1932 in Springfield, the son of Charles S. and Sophia Ann Petkus Meiron. He married Mary "Tomi" Smiddy on June 18, 1955 in Springfield. Chuck was a graduate of Lanphier High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1952 – 1954 in Italy during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist for Pillsbury and raised four boys, who he was very proud of. He loved to read, riding motorcycles, and tinkering with Studebaker cars and mowers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Ritter and Helen Meiron. He is survived by his wife, Tomi Meiron of Greenview; four sons. Doug (wife, Julie) Meiron of Rapid City, SD, Steve (wife, Debbie) Meiron of Bloomington, Stuart (wife, Elaine) Meiron of Peoria, and Guy (wife, Brenda) Meiron of Boonsboro, MD; thirteen grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew, Rebecca, Emily, Trenton, Caitlin, Beth, Justin, Nathan, Austin, Cameron, Kim and Carrie; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga officiating.
