Mr. Charles Quentin Almond, 86, of Thomasville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at the Hinkle Hospice House.
Mr. Almond was born on November 4, 1931, in Cherokee County, NC, a son to the late Homer and Bertie Miller Almond. For many years, he had worked as a welder in the shipyards of Norfolk, VA, later moving back home to, NC. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Bumgardner Almond, and his siblings.
Surviving are his children, Vernon C. Turner, Jr. and wife Lenora and Doris Hunt; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; nephew, Vincent Almond; nieces, Denise Almond, Dorthea Almond, Daphne Ruby; sister-in-law, Brenda Almond; and cousins, Ken Ladd, Mary Lou Everhart, and Jo Ann Rogers.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, Dec. 15 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
