Charles "Charlie" Raymond Fisher Sr., 91, of Alsace Twp., passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2017.
He was the loving husband of Dorothy "Dully" M. (Faust) Fisher for over 70 years.

Born in Molltown on December 3, 1925, Charlie was a son of the late John S. and Erma M. (Adam) Haas.

He was an Oley Valley High School graduate.

In 1943, Charlie enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Sigourney DD-643 Destroyer in the South Pacific. With his fellow comrades, he bombarded islands for the US Marines to make landings for them to engage the Japanese. Returning stateside, Charlie worked various other jobs in his life to make ends meet, finally settling with Halls Motors as a tractor-trailer driver for over 20 years, before retiring in 1985.

He was a proud member of the local Teamsters union for more than 20 years. He was known as a very hardworking man and would always help anyone in need.

Charlie was also an avid hunter and big fan of NASCAR racing.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Charlie is survived by three children: Charles R. Fisher Jr. and his wife, Dawn (Pienta) of Alsace Twp. Cindy L. (Fisher) Busnach of Alsace Twp. and her companion, Donald Sando, of Reading and Cecilia A. (Fisher) Sitler and her husband, Richard, of Sinking Spring; six grandchildren: Jamie, Lee, Natalie, Eric, Jason and Janelle; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was predeceased by two sons, Sgt. Dennis L. Fisher and Steven A. Fisher; a grandson, Stephen Fisher; a brother, Edward Haas; and three sisters: Anna Mae (Hottenstein) Bair, Mable (Haas) Guest and Gloria (Haas) Underwood.

Services for Charlie will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 to noon. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, where military honors will be accorded.
