Guilford – Charles Winfred "Chuck" Wilde, 50, died unexpectedly on April 27, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH as a result of injuries sustained from a fall near his home. Chuck was born December 11, 1962 in Brattleboro, the son of Charles and Kathy (Ragle) Wilde. He was raised and educated in Brattleboro, graduating from Brattleboro Union High School. He went on to attend Vermont Technical College. Chuck was a kind-hearted, compassionate, gentle man with the purest of souls. He generously gave out warm, enveloping bear hugs. He wished for happiness for everyone and loved and supported his family dearly. After the death of his father, Charles "Peter" Wilde in late 2011, he took over the care of the family farm property in addition to running his plumbing business. He was voted Best Plumber in last year's "Brattleboro's Best". He was a member of the Eagles, the Sons of the American Legion, the Guilford Historical Society and the Savior Faire Club, a group of close-knit friends who gather weekly to cook together. He enjoyed playing in a local pool league, riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, visiting with friends and loved being outdoors. Intelligent and quick-witted, he could always be counted on for great conversation. Chuck leaves his daughter, Stephanie, his mother, Kathy and a niece, Jaclyn, all of Guilford; a sister, Kim of Bernardston, MA; nieces, Angela, Jessica and Jenna of Brattleboro; and grandparents, Tom and Nancy Ragle of Guilford. Additionally, he leaves many cousins, aunts and uncles; special friends, Gus Hemenway and Mel Osborne of Guilford; his cherished dog, Briggs, and countless friends. Family and close friends are invited to a quiet burial in Carpenter Cemetery in Guilford at 3:00 PM on Thursday. A pot-luck celebration of Chuck's life will follow at the Eagle's Club on Chickering Drive at 5:30 PM.
