Charles W. Sexton, Sr. went home to be with Jesus at 3:20am on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory Street, with burial following in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation Wednesday evening from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home.
Chuck was born in Lackey, Kentucky on July 25, 1945. He was the 3rd oldest of 9 children. Chuck was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was also a disabled vet. He served in the US Army for 6 years and later was a Federal Narcotics Officer for the US Coast Guard for 26 years. Chuck married Julia on November 18, 2000 and they shared 17 amazing years of love and life together.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sue Sexton; and stepson, Marcellus Simpler.
Chuck is survived by his 4 children: stepson, Marcus Simpler of Abilene, Cynthia Lovelace and husband Mark of Brazoria, TX, Charlotte Nichols and husband Steven of Lansing, NC, and Charles W. Sexton II (Casey) and wife Heather of Tuscola; 9 grandkids: Courtney Shults, Kathleen Hankins, Natalie Morgan, Kyla Sexton, McKayla Sexton, Nicholas Sexton, Deven Nichols, Brogan Sexton, and Anna Sexton; 3 great grandkids: Jackson Shults, Zoe Donlan, and Foster Hankins; brothers: Ronnie Sexton and wife Sandra of Marshall, TX, Jackie Sexton and wife Diana of Kilgore, TX, Denny Sexton of OH, and Billy Sexton of OH; sisters: Faye McClenan and husband Joe of Marshall, TX, Judy Reedy and husband Freddie of Portsmith, OH, and Brenda Penland of Kilgore, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
