Charmane Helen Spenny of Glasford passed away Thursday January 11, 2018.
Charmane was born in Glasford, Illinois on September 12, 1928 to Chester and Helen (Shreve) Coats. She married (Hobart) Wayne Spenny on October 2, 1948. They were blessed with two children, Mary Jo and Doug.
Charmane served her community and became involved in all of the kids' activities. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, 4-H Leader, belonged to Mother's Club, Band Parents, and taxi service for any kid that needed her. She was a life member of Glasford United Methodist Church where she was Treasurer for many years. She belonged to Illinois Valley Bushmen and Coachman camping clubs. She and Wayne traveled the country for over 50 years, and wintered in their Arizona home for 23 years. She loved being a member of the Glasford Red Hat Rockets. She was an important staff member of the Glasford State Bank from 1963 until her retirement in 1990.
Charmane is survived by her husband Wayne; children Mary Jo and Tom Lewellen of Groveland and Doug and Darcey Spenny of Glasford. She loved and was proud of her grandchildren - Christopher and Christy Howell of Groveland, Damon Spenny, Danielle and Pat Prohaska, and Devon and Josh White all of Glasford. Her great grandchildren were her shining lights - Brendon and Brady Prohaska, Emerson Howell, and Josiah, Christian, and Eve White. She thought the world of her many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by four sisters, Shirley Boyer of Peoria, Sharon Young of Pekin, Sara and Jesse Moore of Joliet, and Joyce and Marvin Shafer of Glasford.
Preceding her in death was her parents; three brothers; James Robert, (Arthur) Sonny, and (Chester) Guy Coats all of Glasford.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heddington Oaks and Donavon and Deb from Compassus for their loving care.
Services will be at 11:00 am Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Glasford United Methodist Church with Rev Ethan Carnes officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 am - 11:00 am Monday, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glasford United Methodist Church.
