Cheryl Curow, 61 of Axis, Alabama passed away on July 4, 2016 due to health complications. She was born on March 19, 1955 to Lubber and Grace Daniels, at the Chickasaw Infirmary, Chickasaw, Alabama. She attended various elementary schools, and attended Citronelle High School and Satsuma High School. During High School she excelled in art and music and won several awards for her artwork. After she finished school she worked at various jobs, was a wife and mother of 4 children. She is survived by her husband, Terry Curow, retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad, daughter, Angel Champagne (Jason), Saraland, AL, son, Robbie Kelly (Doree), Abita Springs, LA, daughter, Teri Anne (Annie to family), and son Terry Curow, Jr. of Axis, AL., one sister, Rene Daniels of Foley, AL, 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Memories will also be cherished by her Aunt June Middleton of Greenville, AL, her nephew, Jacob Lambert (Layla) of Saraland, AL and niece Kristen Patterson of Foley, AL and many great nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
After various jobs and being at home as a wife and mother, Cheryl decided to go to college to be a teacher. She would not only get her bachelor's degree from the University of Mobile where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 4.0 she would further her education with a Master degree from the University of South Alabama also with a 4.O. Her degree was in elementary special education. Her passion for education would spur her on to start working on her PH.D. maintaining a 4.O.
She was a Special Ed teacher at Belsaw School in Mt Vernon, AL for 10 years. She looked forward each year to getting her classroom ready for "her kids" and to help educate her special kids so they would make a difference. She was always doing something with her school kids in and out of her class. She loved being a teacher and her children loved her. Through her teaching she impacted so many lives of students and faculty and made many life long friends. Cheryl was truly sorry to see Belsaw School close at the end of this school year 2016.
Cheryl loved gardening, cooking, going fishing, enjoying her pool and being at home. She enjoyed many trips to the mountains in Gatlinburg and other family vacations. She had many family get togethers through the years and leaves her family with many fond memories of those times.
God must have needed one more Angel in heaven, although we were not ready for her to go. I know her reunion in heaven with her dad, mother, sister, and many of her relatives is a joyous reunion. While she will be missed here on earth we know she is in a better place.
