Christine M. "Tina" Blechschmidt, age 77, resident of Lombard IL, former longtime resident of Downers Grove, passed away on November 20 , 2017 at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Tina was the beloved bride of the late William "Bill" R. Blechschmidt Jr. whom she married June 10, 1961. He preceded her in death on October 9 , 2001. Loving Mother of Susan (Douglas) Holle, Minocqua, WI. William R. (Susan) Blechschmidt III, Lake Zurich, IL. Thomas (Susan) Blechschmidt, Lisle, IL. Cherished Grandmother of Sharon Holle, Brian Holle, William R. (Christine) Blechschmidt IV, Alec Blechschmidt, Andrew Blechschmidt, Bradley Blechschmidt, Daniel Blechschmidt, Sarah Blechschmidt, and Cami Blechschmidt. Proud Dog Grandma to Snickers, Snowball, Duke, Figgy, Goofy, Lucy and Great-Dog-Grandma of Cooper. Tina was the devoted daughter of the late Myron and Johanna Gabbert, of Willow Springs IL; and dear Sister of Myron Dan (Elfrieda) Gabbert Jr. of McCall Idaho. Beloved Aunt and Friend to many.

Tina grew up in Willow Springs IL, and was a 1959 graduate of Mount Assisi Academy in Lemont IL. She had many friends and loved theatre and music. Her first job after graduating was a telephone operator. She met the love of her life, Bill, on a blind date. They married and bought their first home in Hickory Hills IL. Bill and Tina were the life of the neighborhood. They had many friends and hosted many awesome theme parties. Their children, Susan, Billy and Tommy were all born there, and the adventure had begun.

Tina, trusting her loving husband in 1968, followed their dreams onto the adventure of a lifetime. Together they bought a remote fishing resort in Walker, Minnesota. In their new community, they again made so many friends, had a lot fun, and were also very hard workers."Work Hard, Play Hard" was their motto. Bill, Tina, Susan, Billy and Tommy all worked together to create a fun filled family resort with many adventures. In 1975, they ended their "Up North" adventure, and moved back to Illinois with their family.

Susan, Billy and Tommy grew up into Susan, Bill and Tom. They found the loves of their lives, and Tina became a Grandma to 9 grandchildren. She surrounded them with love and support. Tina and Bill eventually started their next adventure with the purchase of Jerico Inc., a company which their family continues to run today.

In the later years, after her husband Bill passed and Tina was in care, she was so happy every time she saw her family, always saying how beautiful we were and how much she loved us. She loved to hold our hands, and always asked how we were. She loved the decorations we would bring for her room, and introduced us all to everyone she knew while we were there. She was very proud of her family. Tina was such a gentle loving soul. She will be missed, but is now dancing the Polka with her loving husband Bill, surrounded by her family and friends in heaven - filled with God's eternal love.

"A Mother holds her children's hand for a while...their hearts forever."
