Clara Rowden, a Prineville resident passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011. She was 92 years old.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Bible Chapel 510 NW 4th St., Prineville. Pastor Ron Hemphill will officiate.

Clara was born in Brighton, Illinois on January 28, 1919 to Joseph & Mary (Breitweiser) Stahling. She grew up on the family farm.

She attended and graduated 8th grade from a Country School in Brighton. She married Gene Rowden in Missouri on July 31, 1941.

Clara worked as a day laborer in manufacturing. During WWII she worked in a musician's plant in Illinois. Clara move to Oregon; first to Eugene then to Prineville in the late 1940's. She worked in the farms in Prineville then went back to Illinois, and then back to Oregon in the 1950's, then moved to Prineville in 1971. Clara worked on various farms during the fall harvests. During the 50's she and her husband horse logged for telephone poles.

She loved gardening, raising flowers and vegetables. Quilting, all kinds of sewing & handiwork, entering various quilts in the fairs Clara enjoyed being a homemaker.

She was a founding member of the New Life Bible Chapel.

Clara is survived by her son; Carroll Rowden & his wife Celesta of Prineville, Oregon.
Sisters; Helen Missinager of Illinois, Ruth Lyle of Arizona, and Catherine Schafer of Illinois.
Two grandchildren; Liberty Harkey & Enoch Rowden, two Great Grandchildren; Brendan Harkey and Megan Harkey all of Prineville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene and son; Myles, two brothers, and one sister.
