Clare F. Kollaja passed away on December 21, 2017 in Midland, Texas. Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, Texas at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Interment will be at Seaside Memorial Cemetery in Corpus Christi Texas on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
Mrs. Kollaja was born on August 25, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts to Joseph F. and Jeannette A. Finnick. She graduated from Belmont High School in June of 1945. She worked at the National Shawmut Bank of Boston from 1945 to 1949. She married Myles J. McDonough on April 23, 1949. They had two children: Myles J. McDonough, Jr. and Linda Clare Hebert.
She worked for David H. Bloom, Attorney from 1950 to 1955. In 1956 she and her husband and baby daughter moved to Jackson, Mississippi and then in 1957 were transferred to Lafayette, Louisiana where their son was born in 1959. That same year they were transferred to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they lived until May of 1964 at which time they were transferred to Midland, Texas.
Clare was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and had been a member of St. Ann's Altar Society. She was also past president of the Landmen's Auxiliary. Clare went back to work in 1976 and worked for McSpadden & Green, Independent Oil Operators until 1985.
She married Alvin A Kollaja in January of 1979. She then became an active member in the Permian Basin Geological & Geophysical Auxiliary serving as Treasurer, Historian and on several other committees. She was a member of the Santa Rita Club of the Petroleum Museum of Midland and the Tejas Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jeanne M. Finnick; husband Alvin Kollaja and daughter Linda Clare Hebert.
She is survived by her three sons, Myles J. McDonough, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Owasso, Oklahoma, A. Anthony Kollaja and his wife Joyce of Hayden, Idaho and D. Chris Kollaja and his husband Tom Dooher of San Francisco, California; daughter, Nancy Lee Mars and her husband Robert of Bloomfield, Colorado; sister, Lois F. Thomas of Midland, Texas; brother, Richard J. Finnick of Aurora, Ohio; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great grandson; four nieces and four nephews.
