Obituary

Clarence E. Lang, 81, of Aurora, passed away Thursday September 20, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of the late Joseph and Bernice (Rosenquist) Lang.

Clarence served his country with the U.S. Navy and was a survivor of a devastating plane crash in the Atlantic Ocean, where he swam miles to shore. After the Navy, he was employed at the Burlington Northern Railroad, where he met his wife, Carol Parmenter and they were united in marriage in 1962.
Clarence was later employed by the Kane County Sheriff's Department from 1969 to 1998. He was a patrol Sgt. Who was nicknamed "Sarge" with badge #602.

Clarence enjoyed fishing and camping at the Kane County Club with several friends, including his lifelong friend, Warren Knight. He also went deer hunting in Wisconsin for many years. He enjoyed bowling for several leagues for several years with the Sheriff's office.

Clarence was a longtime member of Calvary Church in Naperville. He and his wife Carol went to the Holy Land and renewed their vows while vacationing with their church and both he and Carol were baptized in the river Jordan.

He grew a vegetable garden and apple orchard every year that he shared with family and friends.

Clarence was a member of the USA Athletic Club in Aurora. He attended three times a week and always scheduled other appointments on the off days he didn't go to the gym so nothing would interfere with him going.

Over the years, Clarence traveled the world, taking yearly vacations with his wife and children, after his children grew up he began taking cruises with Carol to locations, including Alaska, Hawaii and Europe.

Clarence was definitely a one of a kind, he met monthly with his former classmates at the Colonial Café and other restaurants over the years with fellow police officers.

There is comfort in knowing that he accepted Jesus as his savior and that we will see him again one day in heaven.

Clarence is survived by his four children, Larry Lang, Don Lang, Chuck (Laurel) Lang and Ginger (Tom) Wollenweber; his six grandchildren, Colton, Alyssa, Lee, Haley, Gabriella and Gregory; his three brothers, Edward Lang, James Lang and Douglas Lang; his three sisters, Sharon Sanders, Alberta Ramirez and Kim Lunstrum.
