Clark W. Roemer, 87, of Lexington, passed away 9:32 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 17, 2017) at his home, where he had been ill with heart problems since August.

His family has honored his wish for cremation. A graveside service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 am.

Clark was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Alton, the son of Arthur B. and Alma V. Leeder Roemer. He came from a large family of seven sisters and five brothers, who preceded him in death along with his parents.

He married Vivian C. Roberds on May 9, 1975, in Lexington. She survives along with one son, Kenneth Roemer, Rantoul; five stepchildren, Danny (Gina) Roberds, Jackie (Mike) Rever, Linda (Steve) Anderson and Greg (Sian) Roberds, all of Lexington, and Chuck (Becky) Roberds, Downs; two grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.

Clark grew up on a farm and went on to have his own farm in the Saybrook area for many years. He was a man of many talents and occupations during his lifetime. In 1984, he sold his farm and moved to Florida where he worked as head of maintenance at the Naples Beach Resort. In 1993, they moved back to Lexington where he made many friends and went on to use his many skills in the community as a handyman. His love of electrical work kept him busy until he retired in 2016 to take care of his wife, who has Alzheimer's.

He loved the community and many friends he made in Lexington. Memorials may be made to the Lexington Genealogical and Historic Society (The Fort).
