The funeral service for Craig Forrest Wilkins, 55, of Cresbard, will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at Cresbard United Methodist Church, with Pastor Julie Nygaard officiating. Burial will follow at Scatterwood Lakeside Cemetery, Rural Mansfield. Craig died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

Visitation will be from 2:00-6:30 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2013 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

Craig Forrest Wilkins was born May 5, 1957 to Keith and Aileen Wilkins of Mansfield, SD. He was the fifth child of nine and the third of six brothers.

Craig was baptized at the Scatterwood Methodist Church. All his schooling from Kindergarten through his senior year were attended at Cresbard, SD. Craig enjoyed playing basketball. While he was on the team, they won their way to the State B Tournament. He was chosen to the SD All State Basketball Team in his senior year of high school. Craig attended college at Madison State College and Northern State College. He played basketball at both schools.

Craig graduated from Northern with a bachelor's degree in teaching. Immediately upon graduation he moved to Sierra Vista, AZ and taught Mechanical Drawing and Driver's Ed. Craig taught several years at the Sierra Vista High School before taking a drafting job for Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, AZ. During this time he became a certified NRA firearm instructor. He met and married his wife Yvonne on November 26, 1988.

Craig was forced to quit working at Hughes due to pain. After leaving Hughes he became more involved in gun safety and was a Past Master Blue Lodge/Scottish Rite 32nd degree Knight Comander Court of Honor. He moved to Cresbard in 2007 to live with and care for his mother Aileen, until his death.

He enjoyed his family, his community and his dogs.

Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Aileen Wilkins, his sisters and brothers; Gail (Jerry) Smith, Diane (Tim) Graham, Roy (Lois) Wilkins, Paul Wilkins, David (Nancy) Wilkins, Dale Wilkins, and Rita (Dusty) Walter, his nieces and nephews; Sarah, Aaron, Anna, Elizabeth, Jessie, Troy, Wayne, Nathan, Christina, Teresa, Lee, Raymond, Samantha, Jason, Rebekkah, Hannah, Warren, Cory, and Ethan, his great nieces and nephews; Keith, Benjamen, Evelynn, Colin, Evan, Thane, Thea, Alixia, Carter, Devan, Leah, Abby, Landon, Alexandria, Robert, Brian, Kaydence, Emma Lee, Samuel and Grace.

He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Wilkins, his brother, Wayne Wilkins, his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Bertha Wilkins, and his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Jessie Wells.
