Dominic Charles, D.C. "Rock" Bounds
June 30, 1928 - March 26, 2017
VINTON - D.C. "Rock" Bounds, age 88, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
D.C. was born in Orange, Texas to Ella Meaux Bounds Pruitt and Harry Bounds. He was a life long resident of Vinton, La. He spent his early years in Vinton, graduating from Vinton High School. He was an All-Star football player for Vinton High School. One of his first jobs was working for the local telephone company as a lineman. He then joined the U.S. Army for a short time. Upon returning to Vinton, he worked for Magnolia Oil then eventually worked for Mobil Oil for 37 years until his retirement. His life was identified by that of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his family. D.C. never met a stranger.
He is survived by a loving companion, Verna McCollom of Vinton; a daughter, Cynthia Bounds Daugherty and husband, Daniel of Dothan, AL; a granddaughter, Angelia Marie Daugherty Martin of Dothan, AL; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Inman and Anna Marie Martin both of Dothan, AL; D.C.'s cat, "Fluffy"; special cousins, Loretta Young and Richard Lee Maier; and many friends.
As we celebrate the life and death of D.C., we will always carry D.C. in our memory and our hearts. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and will resume from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
