Dalton E. "Gene" Rawlins, 89, of Lubbock, formerly of Levelland, passed away December 10, 2017. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 2pm at the City of Levelland Cemetery with Pastor Ted Currington officiating. He was born on June 18, 1928, in Levelland, TX to Alexander Rawlins and Jessie Mae (Dickerson) Rawlins. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1946 to 1949. He was stationed in Japan and served between WWII and the Korean War. He was a gunner on a B-52 and a B-17. He was honorably discharged on April 29, 1949. Dalton was a faithful member of the West Texas Church at the Barn in Lubbock. He is preceded in death by his parents Alex and Jessie Mae; five brothers; and his wife of 39 years, Peggy (McGregor) Rawlins. He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (Rawlins) Smith of Midland, TX; one son, David "Bo" Rawlins of Lubbock, TX; three grandchildren, Erin Slape of Midland, TX; Dustin Slape of Midland, TX; and Kaden Rincones of Lubbock, TX; as well as many dear and close friends that were just like family. He loved them all and they loved hm. Services are under the direction of George Price Funeral Home.
