DURANT, Daniel W. Daniel William Durant, 65, of Vernon, beloved husband of Virginia (Nichols) Durant, passed away Friday, (April 21, 2006) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Worcester, MA on July 6, 1940, he was the son of the late Ernest L. and Margaret R. (Bradshaw) Durant. He resided in Manchester for many years and had lived in Vernon since 1977. Dan was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired after 35 years from the Experimental Assembly Division of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. He was a member of the Army Navy Club of Manchester, an avid sports fan of the UCONN Women's Basketball, followed NASCAR Racing and with great pride and joy, loved making exquisite dollhouses for his granddaughters. Besides his wife of 30 years, Dan is survived by his sons, Barry Zorda of Coventry, David Durant and his wife Susan of Cheshire and Kevin Zorda and his wife Diane of Enfield; his daughter, Patricia Finch and her husband John of Stafford Springs; his sister, Patricia Durant-Peterson and her husband Robert of Leicester, MA; six grandchildren, Ashley Morell, Adam Finch, Samantha Durant, Aimee Durant, Garrett Zorda and Emma Zorda and two nephews. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., (Rte. 83), Vernon. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 25, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with full Military Honors will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Vernon.
