Darrell Bomar, 79, of Garland, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.

He was born on March 8, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas. Darrell was raised in Wichita Falls and was a 1956 graduate of Wichita Falls High School. He attended ACU on a track scholarship, as he excelled in running and continued running well into his 70s. He was in the oil & gas industry for several years, retiring in 2003. Darrell was a member of The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. In addition, he had a great love for music. Darrell will be remembered for his generous and loving spirit, who had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Dera Peeler and Buddy Bomar. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: devoted wife of 57 years, Sue (Fletcher) Bomar; four daughters and sons-in-law, Angela & Michael Terilli of Saint Jo, TX, Pam & Jim Dwelle of Irving, TX, Julia & Bobby Franklin of Arlington, VA, and Amy & Troy Hart of Katy, TX; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and his beloved K-9 companion, Duke.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th St., Plano, TX 75074. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or at www.alz.org/donate.
