TROUTMAN, Darryl Lee. Darryl was born in Spokane, WA on October 5th, 1937, the second child of Peter and Ida Troutman. Peter Troutman had a service station on South Hill. The family relocated to Loon Lake, Washington where the parents engaged in various businesses including local stores and a restaurant.
Darryl's first occupation was in the refrigeration business. Sister Bonnie (age 14) and Darryl (age 7) sold lake ice to Loon Lake residents. His second career was in the newspaper field, he delivered newspapers by small boat to residents on the shores of Loon Lake. Darryl was a true entrepreneur - he clandestinely worked "on the side," without his parents knowledge or permission, taking on extra routes on his bicycle. From the two-room schoolhouse in Loon Lake, he advanced to high school in Deer Park and continued his education at Eastern Washington College of Education. In spite of the distractions of fishing and partying with friends and fellow students, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation he served in the Army Reserves in California where he later worked as a credit manager for businesses including a tire company. Following the 1964 Alaska earthquake Darryl was transferred to Anchorage, Alaska. Always striving to be self employed, he became licensed in Real Estate and became a land developer.
Darryl was a loyal and true friend to all, including friends from early childhood and people met on his various travels. Family was very important to Darryl, and wherever he was he would always return to his roots, his friends and his family. He was known as a most interesting and fun conversationalist.
Upon retirement Darryl and life partner Janet migrated to Kirkland WA and later to Surprise AZ. Darryl and Janet then took on the project of restoring an old brick building in Springdale, WA, 5 miles from Loon Lake.
Survivors include brother Jack Troutman (Shaune), brother Bob Troutman (Lynn), nephews Michael Taylor (Kathy), Andy Troutman (Cindy), niece Patty Troutman, grand nieces and nephews Alexandra, Angela, Alani, Kamau, Malachi, Lily, Kiara and Christian.
Darryl would want to express his love for all of his friends and family, and the huge family that he inherited from his life partner Janet Helgemo.
Darryl loved everything Monty Python, especially the music video, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life (whistle-whistle.)"
