David Charles Maxcy was born on January 9, 1944 in San Francisco, CA. He was the oldest son of Eleanora and Charles Maxcy. They lived in several east and west coast states as he grew up because his father was a lifer in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Oregon when he was about twelve years old.
He romantically pursued Beverly for several years while in high school but did not catch her until he had enlisted in the Navy himself. They were married for 52 years and spent the last 50 living in North Portland. They had three sons, Troy, Tim, and Tony.

David enlisted in the Navy in 1962 and grew to the rank of E-3, and served on the USS Constellation. He was in aircraft parts division and served in the Vietnam War.

He worked at Consolidated Freightways for over 30 years was a proud Teamster, Local 81. He participated in the Oregon Truck Rodeo several times and took second place in his classification twice. After retiring from Consolidated Freightways he took a part time job at Landmark Ford for about 10 years.

Beverly and David were both active members at Peace Lutheran and raised their sons there also. His hobbies included travel to France, Hawaii and especially Mexico. He loved to spend time in Mazatlan and had many friends there.

David loved to camp especially in Wamic, Oregon. He and Beverly square danced for about 25 years and had many long-time friends from this.

David is survived by his wife Beverly, his three sons Troy (Megan), Tim, and Tony (Jon), one granddaughter Mary, brother, Phil and several nieces and nephews. He also had several quasi grandchildren.

A memorial service for David will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peace Lutheran, 2201 N Rosa Parks Way, Portland, Oregon 97217. Following the memorial service will be a burial at 3:00 PM at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR 97229.
