David Earl Irwin 87, of Canyon, Texas entered into rest March 30, 2017. David was born in Kimball, Nebraska at his parent's home on March 12, 1930. He attended school in Kimball and graduated from Kimball County Highs School in 1949. David married the love of his life, Jo Edens on May 9, 1952. Together, they created a warm environment to raise their family in Westminster, Colorado where they lived for 54 years before moving to Canyon, Texas. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary before Jo's death on October 14, 2015.

He was deeply in love and devoted to her until she died. David served in the Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged October 9, 1953. He was a printer by trade, retiring in 1985. David was a veracious reader of friction and he greatly enjoyed movies. He was a rabid Denver Bronco fan and an avid gardener. He was especially fond of growing sweet corn and melons. He was a great story teller with a terrific sense of humor. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his father Alvin Earl Irwin, his mother Bessie Vernon Irwin, his brothers Richard Galt Irwin, Kent Strom Irwin and Rolland McAllister Irwin. His grandson David Hastings Sharrett II, who died in Iraq on January 16, 2008.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Brinks; daughters Valari Gibbs, Vicki Sharrett and Jill Irwin, son Marc Irwin. Nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
