David William Hannum, 82 of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on December 21, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cynthia Lilley Hannum, daughters Kim (Steve) Hanley and Stacy (Dave) Bisio, five grandchildren (Matthew, Lauren, Joseph, Nicholas and Sabrina), sister Sara (Jay) Hart, nephews Brian and Daniel, and niece Pam. He was born on April 12, 1937 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Lewis Wells Hannum and Emily Mott Hannum.  Mr. Hannum was a graduate of the Wethersfield High School Class of 1955 and attended Cornell University.  He received his B.A. from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1961, and attended New York University Graduate School of Business from 1962 to 1964. He worked in the workers compensation insurance rating industry for 31 years before retiring in 1997 as Special Deputy Insurance Commissioner overseeing the programs administered by the State of New Jersey.

Mr. Hannum was a direct descendant of Thomas Welles, the fourth governor of Connecticut who took office in 1665. Mr. Hannum participated in TSD automobile rallies in the 1970's and 1980's, winning several local and regional events.  He was active in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute since retiring to Prescott in 1997 and was Chairman of the governing board of OLLI's predecessor, the Yavapai Learning Institute from 2000 to 2002.  Mr. Hannum's other passions in retirement included reading and daily walks with his Sheltie, Shawna.
