Delores (Lori) Wiese, 70, of Franklin, was granted her eternal rest on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

She was born in Norwich, Connecticut on September 29, 1946 to the late John and Mabel (Herrick) Snurkowski. She was lovingly married to Leonard E. Wiese Sr for 38 years before he passed away. She was fiercely loving of her four children and a devoted and fabulous grandmother.

After running a business with her husband for 30+ years, Lori made the most of her retirement. She volunteered at the local soup kitchen and juggled her various social activities, including walks, Zumba, and Tuesday night "girls' night."

Lori enjoyed traveling on their motorcycle with her husband and, later, dinner and traveling with her baci friends. She loved being active in any way, from four wheeling in New Hampshire with her daughter to mowing any lawn she could get her hands on, even though she may have destroyed one or two lawnmowers in her life! She was always up for an adventure such as horse carriage rides, making snow angels by moonlight with her grandchildren, walking the airline trails and skiing the mountains of New England.

She battled ovarian cancer for 4 ½ years with great determination and vigor. She was supported by family and friends and a terrific team at Women and Infants in Providence, R.I., as well as the physical support of her sister, Donna, for the last difficult weeks of her life.

Lori is survived by her siblings Donna Snurkowski Smith of Wheeling, WV, and John Vincent Snurkowski Jr. of Norwich, CT. She is also survived by her four children, Sally and Michael Kropp of Franklin, Bonnie and Robert Tompkins of Groton, Leonard Wiese Jr and Dana Cushman of Ashaway, Rhode Island, and Kenneth and Jocelyn Wiese of DeLand, Florida. Lori left behind 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Joshua Leonard Wiese, his wife Jennifer Lynn Wiese and their children Shyanne Rogers and Joshua L. Wiese Jr., Lowell Turner III, Chelsey Lynn Wiese, Caitlyn Rose Wiese, Elizabeth Marie Tompkins, Robert Charles Tompkins Jr, Julia Anne Tompkins, Aurelia Gabriel Tompkins, David Charles Tompkins, Angelica Marie Tompkins, and Christian Charles Leonard Tompkins. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 21st at 3:00 PM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 243 Rt 164 Preston, CT with burial immediately following at Preston City Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Place, 120 Cliff St., Norwich, Ct 06360.
