Dennis Tomoki Numoto, 73, passed away peacefully at his home on October 14th.

Dennis was born to Chitoshi and Masako (Kagawa) Numoto on February 11, 1944 in Rexburg, Idaho.. The family "voluntarily" moved to Idaho in 1942 to avoid going to an internment camp. After a fire destroyed their home and farming business in Idaho in 1951, the family moved to Gilroy to start over again by growing strawberries.
Dennis graduated from Gilroy High in 1962. He married Gail Kurasaki in 1966 and then had two sons. He worked with his father as a gardener, and then on his own for over 10 years. In 1977 he started his career as a CAD designer, which lasted over 20 years.

In 1998 Dennis underwent a successful heart surgery. He was able to enjoy some of his younger hobbies again, like mountain biking. Dennis also suffered a stroke which affected his left side. His disability did not stop him from enjoying other hobbies like fishing, shooting pool or playing poker.

Dennis is survived by his sons Scott Numoto, Steve Numoto (Elizabeth); grandchildren Piani Tongson, Violet, Sam and Terra; siblings Kenji (Yoshiko), Naomi Nakano, Jeanne Haruta (Carl).

He will be missed by all his friends and family members.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the San Jose Buddhist Temple Betsuin, 640 N. 5th Street, with reception to follow at the Church Annex.

Arrangements under the direction of Willow Glen Funeral Home, San Jose, CA.
