After an 83 year journey Don Kendrick has returned home. Don passed away on Sunday June 11, 2017 at 3:00 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple Texas. He lived a life that brought honor and glory to God and left a legacy of integrity, love, service and humility.

Don lived most of his life in Slaton, Texas but was born in Littlefield Texas. He was known by many names over the years, son and brother, husband and father, Granddad, Papa Don, trustee, Fire Chief, president of countless organizations, Man of the Year, Mr. Mayor, Judge and Christian. Don embraced them all with his characteristic wisdom and good humor. He was a leader among men, whose name means ruler, but led with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control because he knew that ultimately it was not he who led, but a good God who is sovereign over all things. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and will be missed beyond expression, however, we don't grieve as those who are without hope, but anticipate a joyful reunion one day. Don is preceded in death by his parents JT "Tip" Kendrick, Josephine Kendrick, and his brother Bill Kendrick.

Don is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, sister, LaRue Mortimer, sons, Don Kendrick Jr. and wife Susan, Kelly Kendrick and wife Jeri, daughter, Karla Askins and husband Don, sons, Garrett Harmon and wife Jodi, Cory Harmon and wife Debbie, Kellie Kendrick, and Marty Harmon. He had 9 grandchildren, Aaron Beasley, Sean Kendrick, Haley Carter, Alison Williamson, Chrissy Kennedy, Taylor Askins, Piper Kendrick, Catherine Harmon and Jack Harmon and 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held with friends and family on Friday June 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM on the shores of Lake LBJ, Long Mount Estates, Burnet, Texas.

The family would like to thank the staff at Scott and White Hospital in Marble Falls and Temple for the excellent care they gave Don during his time there. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that gifts be made to a local non-profit of your choice in his name.
