Donald "Don" Boyd Whitehead, 64, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at St. John's Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1952 in McAlester, Oklahoma to J.C and Freda Boyd Whitehead. Don married Pamela Hassler in New York City on October 10, 1978 and she survives.

Mr. Whitehead is also survived by one son James (Andria Crawford) Whitehead of Springfield, one daughter Katie Whitehead of Chatham, two grandsons: Malcolm and Abbott Whitehead, two sisters: Patricia King of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Carolyn (Mike) Fuller of Knoxville, Tennessee and his favorite mother and father-in-law Joe and Lois Hassler.

In 1970 Don worked as a clerk with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma City before becoming an FBI Agent in 1977. He moved to the St. Louis office and that is where he met his wife Pamela. His FBI career took him to New York, Washington D.C., and Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Springfield where he retired in 2001 as Special Agent In Charge of the Springfield Division of the FBI. Don enjoyed reading, history, working out at Fit Club, his shih tzu Max and traveling to Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends from 4:00pm until the time of service Wednesday at Bisch West.
