Donald C. Eckenrod, 83, of Orlando went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in the 1950s, after serving two years in the army, where he played the saxophone in the army band. He was a retired deputy sheriff after nearly 30 years of service with the Orange County Sheriff's Dept., where he was one of the original motorcycle officers. He was married for nearly 50 years to the love of his life, Christine. He had four children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family, his fellow motormen ("Mel's Angels") who were like brothers to him, friends and neighbors; and camping and listening to country music. He had a blessed life full of love, fun and laughter ''' and was a wonderful husband, father, friend, boss and mentor to others. He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Eckenrod. Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Beaver; children: Terry Eckenrod, Connie Lowry (Mike), Donna Brunkala and Steve Eckenrod; god-child, Rainy Nilsson; grandchildren: Jason Eckenrod, Tyler Eckenrod, Robert Eckenrod, Jacquelyn Eckenrod and Katie Lowry; five great-grandchildren; his nephew, John Beaver (Janis); and nieces Lora Lee Vannozzi (Tony) and Deanna Beaver.
