Obituary

Donald Eugene Voorhees of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away sudden and unexpectedly on October 29, 2021. Don was born on July 13, 1950 to Eugene and Gloria Voorhees in Evanston, IL. He lived in Atlanta, Toledo, Charlotte and finally in Barrington, IL. After Don graduated from Barrington High school in 1968, he went on to study at Notre Dame University.

After graduating with a degree in linguistics, he started a successful sales career that culminated in an early retirement at age 52 because "this job is getting in the way of life". This active retirement allowed Don to spend his time pursuing his favorite activities: skiing, snowboarding, sailing, windsurfing, and golf just to name a few. He would be willing to play any sport if you asked him, and rest assured, he knew the rules, and would require a small wager.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Voorhees Pohling(John) of San Diego, CA and Suzanne Smith of Ayer, MA as well as his nieces, Whitney Porto(Daryll), Hillary Calabrese(John), Katie Pohling and nephew Connor Pohling. He loved them all so much, along with the many cousins he had around the country. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Gloria Voorhees, his brother Steven Voorhees and his nephew Cameron Smith. He is survived by a large circle of beloved family and friends on whose lives he made a significant impact. He made many lifelong friends across the globe.

We are all heartbroken; he leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his captivating stories, boundless energy, athletic prowess and expansive vocabulary. He truly brought the LIFE to every party.

In keeping with Don's wishes, a Celebration of Life/Kick Ass Party will be held at the Kenwood Country Club, 6501 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio on January 15, 2022 at 1:00PM. RSVP by email to Dvoorhees2021@gmail.com by January 8, 2022.
