Donald Eriksen, 90, died July 5, 2017, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. He was born and raised in Chelmsford, MA and moved to Florida after serving in the U.S. Navy. Following his retirement, he lived in Port St. Lucie, Fl. Before retirement he was a building and zoning inspector for Miami-Dade County for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 355 of Port St. Lucie and the Martin County Sportsman's Association. He also served on the Port St. Lucie Crime Watch team. An avid horse lover, he founded a not for profit Hope for Horses during retirement. Survivors include his sister Virginia Pontefract of Chelmsford, MA. daughters, Dr. Nancy Eriksen of Houston, TX., Janice Eriksen-Manganaro and her husband Lance of Jensen Beach and Karen Gonzalez and her husband James of Pembroke Pines; three grandchildren-David, Christina, and Sam; great grandson Keegan, and his horse Sparky. He was predeceased by Eleanor Eriksen, his wife of 57 years; his parents Henry Eriksen and Helen MacFadyen Eriksen, and his brother Robert Eriksen all of Chelmsford, MA. Services: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday July 7 at Aycock Funeral Home 1504 S.E. Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, Fl. A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday July 8 at the Aycock Funeral home, with burial following in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City. A guestbook is available at
