Donald R. Rook, 85, of Rocky Ridge, Ohio, died Friday morning, March 22, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. He was born March 25, 1927, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Rudolph E. and Ella (Asper) Rook. On June 25, 1979, in Port Clinton, Ohio, he married Doris L. Rook and she survives. He worked for Uniroyal at the Erie Depot in Port Clinton, retiring in 1991. Donald served in the U.S. Army and was fire chief for Rocky Ridge Vol. Fire Dept. for many years. He enjoyed spending time with friends at Rob's Place, also known as the Limestone Tavern. In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his children, Barbara Ann Sturgis, Charles Joseph (Linda) Rook, John J. (Nellie) Rook, Carol M. (Larry) Pollard, Becky Sue (Ernie) Metcalf, Stella Mae Ellington, Louis Lee (Stella) Rook and Ella Lou (Michael) Blay, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and step brother: Kenneth Velliquette. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, step son, Richard D. Monday, five grandchildren, one step grandchild, brother, Clayton Rook, step brother, Richard Velliquette, and sisters Pearl Rose and Violet Martella. Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston. The family has requested memorials for Donald to St. John Lutheran Church, 450 N. Rocky Ridge Rd., Rocky Ridge, OH 43458; or to the Rocky Ridge Vol. Fire Dept., 14570 W. Kania Rd., Rocky Ridge, OH 43458.
