Donald William Brubaker, 86, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 1:55 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. He was born October 3, 1925 in Wabash, Indiana, to Milton and Mabel (Renicker) Brubaker. Donald was a 1943 graduate of Laketon High School. He married Elsie Skiles in Mulberry, Indiana, on December 14, 1946. He retired from Cyclone Seeder in Urbana, farmed most of his life, drove school bus for Manchester Community Schools 15 years, and also was a school crossing guard for several years. He was a member of the Old German Baptist Church in North Manchester. Donald loved children and young adults. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Brubaker of North Manchester; three children, Rosalyn (Allan) Boocher of South Whitley, Indiana, Joe A. (Kim) Brubaker, and Susan Applegate, both of North Manchester; foster daughter, Glenna (Isaac) Bowers of Palestine, Ohio; sister, Marilyn (Dale) Thompson Flora of Laketon, Indiana; seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Brubaker, who died November 25, 1984, his grandson, Troy Boocher, and his brother, J. Arthur Brubaker. Funeral services will be held at Old German Baptist Church, State Road 13, North Manchester, on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Steve Kingery officiating. Burial will be in the Old German Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester.
