Doris Marguerite Gionet, 95, of Manchester, died July 1, 2017 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Manchester on July 11, 1921 the daughter of Wilfred and Alice (Ducasse) Gagne. She grew up in the Queen City, was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Girls.

Her greatest joy was the time spent with her family. In 1983, she and her husband Maurice upgraded from Winnebago travel and made Titusville, Florida there winter home where family members escaped from the cold and where they enjoyed the Knights of Columbus and the Titusville Amateur Radio Club activities. In 2009 she relocated back to New Hampshire to be close to her family and where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Doris liked to keep active especially dancing and swimming. She was also a member of bowling leagues well into her 90's. She enjoyed going on cruises and trips to casinos with her daughters and son-in-law. Get-togethers typically included playing cards. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Maurice J. Gionet, her daughter Evelyn Fletcher, her brothers Wilfred Gagne, Jr. and Marcel Gagne, her sister Beatrice Bergeron and her sons-in-law Normand Desrochers and Richard Averill.

Members of her family include her daughters Priscilla Desrochers of Manchester, Diana Commander and her husband Stephen of Las Vegas, Nevada and Gloria Averill of Goffstown, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday July 6 from 4 to 6 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday July 7 at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church 14 Elm St. Manchester. Burial will be in Titusville, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Doris' name be made to the Manchester VNA Hospice 1070 Holt Ave. Unit #4 Manchester, NH 03109 or to Blessed Sacrament Church.
