Dorothy A. Booker age 98, of Front Royal, Virginia died April 3, 2017 at her home. The funeral will be conducted Saturday April 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Paran Baptist Church Linden, Virginia officiated by Reverend Dr. Donald Reid. A viewing will be an hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Front Royal, Virginia. Mrs. Booker was born December 22, 1918 in Linden, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John William Marshall and Sarah Catherine Shackett. Dorothy was best known for her famous homemade rolls throughout the Valley. She was a very faithful and devoted member of the Mount Paran Baptist Church in Linden, Virginia where she was baptized in 1955. Mrs. Booker held several positions within the church as follows: Mother of the Church, first member of the senior choir (1955), treasurer of the Golden Key Club, a member of the beautification club, and trustee at Mount Paran. She was always in attendance for all the church functions and took a lot of pride in making sure the pastor had his orange juice and water prior to the service. Mrs. Booker was the wife of the late Ollen Booker. Dorothy was the last living member off her immediate family. She was preceded in death by six sisters; Annie Mae Bray, Rebecca Nickens, Rachel Julis, Patricia L. Combs, Edna Jackson, and Effie Hunt. Three brothers also preceded her in death; John W, Marshall, Waller (Walter) Marshall, and Edward Marshall. Surviving is a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be members of her family. A special thanks to Mrs. Mary Timbers ( a lifelong friend) and Ed Nickens for their support as well as friendship, driving Aunt Dot to doctor's appointments and to the grocery store.
