Corinne “Corky” Comrie (nee Hunt), born in Chicago, Il. on March 14, 1934 to the late Mack and Dorothy Hunt. Corinne graduated from Gage Park High School, Chicago, and Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. At the School of Nursing she met her husband, James M. Comrie, M.D., whom she married on February 26, 1955 at Hope Lutheran Church, in Chicago, Il. She worked as a nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago for several years. Corinne and Jim had 2 sons, Scott (Rhonda) of Alhambra, Il. and Eric (Eileen) of Brookfield, Il. Corinne had 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Oak Lawn, Il. Her devotion to this church led her to service as the first woman Council President. Her love and enthusiasm for volunteering for the Christ Hospital Auxiliary was evident in hours of selfless work and support. Preceding her in death were her husband James, brother Donald Hunt and niece Julie Hunt Gradowski. Visitation Monday 3 to 9 PM at the Zimmerman & Sandeman Funeral Home, 5200 W. 95th St.; Lying in state Tuesday 10:00 AM until time of service 11:00 AM at Salem United Church of Christ, 9717 S. Kostner, Oak Lawn, Il., 60453; Interment St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery , Fish Creek, Wisconsin, Thursday April 28, 2016. In lieu of flowers donations to Salem United Church of Christ. Corinne will be sorely missed by family and friends for whom her unshakable laughter, devotion to family, and generosity were rare gifts. Her spirit lives on in many peoples whose lives she touched unforgettably.
