Dorothy "Dot" Zajac, 83, passed away at Care One Nursing Home in New Bedford on Monday, January 15, 2018. She was born in New Bedford on May 10,1934, to the late Paul and Alice Bernard, where she grew up to become a seamstress and hairdresser. Dot had a big heart and loved creating things-especially dolls, and especially enjoyed sharing her passion with others. She married and moved to Acushnet where her husband built "The Doll House" gift shoppe on Main Street. Her business thrived for nearly a half century.

Dot is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Edward ("Ed"/"Fred"); daughter Robin Botelho and husband John of Fairhaven; daughter Kathy Schaw and husband Bob of Williston, Vermont; sister Lucille Masson of Acushnet; brother Paul Bernard and wife, Dot of New Bedford; daughter-in-law Diane Forand Brodeur of New Bedford; granddaughter Debi Boucher Andrews and husband Domingo of West Wareham; granddaughter Jessica Casey and husband Josh of West Wareham; grandson Zachary Schaw; great grandchildren Zachary Boucher, Charlotte Casey, and Jaxon Casey; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her only son, Bobby, who passed away in 2001, grandson Roger Boucher of New York, and brother Capt. Donald Bernard and wife, Barbara, of Fairhaven.
