Dorothy H. Urban-Koba, 81, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2012, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1931, and moved to Virginia Beach, VA after retiring. Her professional career included 42 years of employment with the US Postal Service as a Postmaster. She was a graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Martha Klebonas; and her brother, Robert Urban. Leaving to cherish her memory are her son, David, of Jeannette, PA and his wife, Patty and their two children, Dave and Heather; granddaughter, Heather and her husband, Nik have three children, Morgan and twins Dominic and Dylan, that are Dorothy's great-grandchildren; her daughter, Katherine Di Nardo of Virginia Beach, VA and her husband, Jimmy and their four children, Jordan, Derek, Casey, and Carson. She was past President of the Pennsylvania Postmasters and Pennsylvania Postmaster of the Year. She cherished her membership in the National League of Postmasters, Virginia Branch of the NLPM, National and Great Neck Chapter AARP; Cape Henry Women's Club, Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles, SOLO of Tidewater, American Legion Auxiliary-National & Virginia, former member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, and recently the Church of the Holy Family. After retirement, she was an avid traveler and fulfilled her dream of seeing the world and made a host of friends along the way. Dorothy loved her family and cherished her friends. She loved reading, crocheting, and being active in the Democratic Party. She dedicated her great heart and mind to her family, friends, and her profession. She instilled strength and confidence to all in her life and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to all of her caregivers. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 25, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a funeral service at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1264 N. Great Neck Road at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan House. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
