Dorothy passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, with her loving family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Turner; mother of David L. (Charlotte L.) Turner and Dianne M. (Gerald R.) Mathews; grandmother of Brian G. and Jason R. Mathews, and David R. and Nicole M. Turner; sister of Ruth E. T. Halliday, the late Edward O. Thege and the late Harold D. Thege .

Dorothy was born on a farm in Linwood, Nebraska. After high school, she left home to attend the Grand Island Business School in Nebraska. In 1941, she moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the Department of Defense. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert, and they married April 17, 1945. They enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world, but their real love was their family. They created Turner Electric Company in Takoma Park, Maryland, and successfully ran the company until they retired in the late 1990s. After Robert passed away in 2009, Dorothy moved in with Dianne and Jerry in Culpeper, Virginia, where she loved watching the cows grazing in the fields. Dorothy enjoyed the many friendships she made at the Culpeper/Madison Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses.
