Douglas A. Fraser, 78, of Williamsburg, VA passed away on January 22, 2018. He was born in Boston, MA and spent his childhood in Wellesley, MA where he also graduated high school in 1957. Furthering his studies, he obtained a BA in History from the College of William and Mary in 1961.
He began his teaching career in Norwich, CT in September 1961 at Norwich Free Academy (NFA), where he remained until June of 1966. He then moved to Williamsburg, VA where he taught within the Williamsburg-James City County (W-JCC) Public School System from September of 1966 until his retirement in June of 1996.

Douglas, affectionately known as "Coach," also enjoyed a lucrative coaching career ranging from the NFA Swim Coach (1961-1966), W-JCC Swim Coach (1966-1970), W-JCC JV Baseball Coach (1975-1994), to a volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach for Berkeley Middle School in W-JCC (1998-2015). He was also heavily involved with the Williamsburg Youth Baseball League, working as an umpire, coach, and serving on the League Board at various times between the late 1950's and early 1990's.

In addition to Doug's admirable coaching and education background, he had also been a member of Williamsburg Moose Lodge #757 since February 1974.

Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Fraser. He is survived by his late brother's wife, Karen Fraser of Milford, MA, and his cousin, Deborah Falconer of Waltham, MA and her family. Doug will be truly missed by his faithful companion and best friend, his beagle, Bo.

Special thanks to his remarkable friends, neighbors, and helpers, including the several dog walkers he's known. Every one of you made a huge difference in Doug's life and for that we are really, truly, appreciative.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 809 S Henry St, Williamsburg, VA 23185 on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.
