Douglas Richert, 53, lost his long battle with heart disease on Thursday, September, 28, 2017 at Stanford Medical Center. His humor, love for friends, family and his community were the driving forces of his existence.

After several years in Walnut Creek, Douglas returned to Fresno, where the family had previously lived. Subsequently Mr. Richert graduated from California State University, Fresno and enjoyed work experiences in both the hospitality and real estate industries.

Doug's love for his community was manifested in many ways such as working as a volunteer for Ronald McDonald House and participating as co-director for "Save the Fulton Mall "project. He was committed to education and strongly believed in the value of fraternities. Prior to his death, Doug served the Fresno SAE alumni as president.

Mr. Richert was predeceased by his father, William Richert, Attorney at Law; and brother Mark Richert.

He is survived by brother, Matt Richert; sister-in-law, Lori Richert; mother, Roberta Richert Canier; the apples of his eyes his nieces Sofia and Libby Richert; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A musical celebration of life will be held at the First Congregational Church, Van Ness & Clinton, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
