Douglas Paul Taylor, age 53, of Corpus Christi,Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 with his loving and devoted wife of 34 years at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Douglas was born on August 14, 1958 to Lewis J. and Lillian (Gohlke) Taylor.

Doug was raised in Cuero, Texas where he met and married the love of his life and true soul mate. They moved to Corpus Christi so Doug could start his career in the oil industry. Out of the 31 years he lived in Corpus, he worked 27 of them for TIW, Corp. where he was proud and honored to become the District Manager of the South Texas area. In 2005 Doug & Sandra became the owners of Air & Filters and enjoyed fostering it to become a successful and growing local business. Doug was a member of the American Petroleum Institute, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Oilfield Christian Fellowship. Doug was a great outdoorsman who loved boating, fishing, hunting and most of all golfing with his many golf buddies. He will be remembered mostly by his big warm smile and kind, genuine heart. Doug was a big family man who loved his wife, two daughters and son in laws and two beautiful granddaughters. Before his death he was ecstatic to hear the news that both his daughters were pregnant each with a baby boy. His family was the most important joy in his life and he cherished "family day in the pool" every Sunday of the summer months. Doug will always be remembered for his love of family. He was a wonderful husband, dad, father in law, "Popo", son in law, brother in law, brother and uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who lovingly called him "Tater", his friends, and the many, many people whose lives he has touched.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Spears Taylor, daughters Jenny (Adam) Remlinger, Alyse (Jeff) Gonzalez, granddaughters Katelyn Remlinger and Brylie Gonzalez, all of Corpus Christi, sister Debbie Rose of The Woodlands, brothers Bruce Taylor of Corpus Christi, Terry Taylor of Deer Park and many special nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel in Corpus Christi, Texas. Doug loved life immensely and wanted no one to cry or mourn his death, so immediately following the Memorial Service a Celebration of Life will be held at his favorite "watering hole", Whiskey River in Corpus Christi. Burial will take place Saturday evening, March 24th at 7 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, Texas. In honor of Doug's love of golf and being very "casual and comfortable" the family requests that all who attend any of the day's events to please wear your golf or "casual/comfortable" attire. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be given to the CC API/ Oscar Golf Tournament, Doug Taylor Memorial. They may be sent to Drawer 4147, Corpus Christi, Texas 78469.
