Douglas Randolph Parsons, Sr., passed away Sept. 12, 2017 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Born August 11, 1927, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Parsons, parents, Clyde Parsons, Sr. and Lillian Parsons, 3 brothers, William Parsons, Joe Parsons, and Clyde "JR" Parsons, Jr., 3 sisters, Maudene Watts, Mable Parsons, and Pet Parsons, and son-in-law, Alva Moore. He is survived by 2 sons and caregivers Kevin and his wife Dawana Parsons; and Doug "Randy" Parsons, Jr.; 1 son William "Mike" and his wife Sheila Parsons; 1 daughter, Terri Moore; six grandchildren, Michael Moore; Greg and his wife Christina Parsons; Robert and his wife Melissa Parsons; Laura Parsons; Catherine Parsons; Sierra Clark who was also a caregiver and her husband Waylan Clark; and 13 great-grandchildren. Doug joined the U. S. Navy in 1945. He always said when the Japanese heard he was coming they surrendered. After being discharged from the Navy in 1946, he joined the Army Air Corps which became the U. S. Air Force. He proudly served his country for 24 years. After retiring he worked for the State of Oklahoma and enjoyed traveling and activities with his wife, kids, and grandkids; gardening; and throwing birthday parties. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge; and a member of DAV; VFW; and American Legion where he devoted countless hours volunteering. He also volunteered with the Military Retiree Program and Tinker AFB Pharmacy. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141 with entombment to follow full military honors rendered by a U. S. Air Force Honors Detail at Arlington Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
