Douglas Wayne Hughes, a native of Loranger, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the age of 48. He was born June 1, 1973 to Helen Cunningham Hughes and Richard Benton Hughes Sr. Doug loved the outdoors, hunting and singing country songs. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. Doug was a great father and grandfather. He will be missed dearly by his family and all the friends he made throughout his life.

Doug is survived by his mother, Helen Cunningham Hughes; daughter, Chassidy Leann Hughes; grandchildren, Layla, Lexci and Lucian; siblings, Richard Benton Hughes, Jr.; Laurie Hughes Durbin, Darrell Lavonne Hughes (Sandy), William Carl Hughes and Byron Francis Hughes; nieces and nephews, Ashley Durbin Wells (Vernon), Kasy Durbin (Edgar Deville), Jarrett Hughes (Katie), Gabrielle Hughes, Kyle Scott, Hunter Hughes (Dara), Danica Hughes Ciresi (Ryan), Haley Hughes Bankston (Logan), Kialeigha Cook, Michael Speer Sr. (Jessica), Lanie Hughes, Shelby Hughes and Aiden Hughes; and numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Benton Hughes Sr; infant great nieces and nephew, Kolt Rylie Wells, Sydney Diane Ciresi and Emmery Jean Gainey; maternal grandparents, Eulice Ellis Cunningham and Raymond Francis Cunningham; and paternal grandparents, Irene Bruce Hughes and Byron Bede Hughes.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am and in Doug's honor, please dress casual.

Interment will follow at Stevens Red Hill Cemetery in Independence, Louisiana.
