Earnest Deaton of Girdler, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, February 8, 2016 being 78 years, 10 months and 25 days of age. He was born on March 14, 1937 in Knox County, Kentucky to the late Floyd Deaton and the late Millie Mills Deaton. Earnest was a retired sawmill operator after many years of faithful service at EK Woods Sawmill. He enjoyed spending his time sitting and talking with his family and friends. He was an avid photographer and fisherman. Earnest loved to tend to his garden and was excellent at plowing his fields with the mules. He was also a member of the Union.

Earnest leaves behind one son: Earnest Ray Deaton and wife Debbie of Girdler; two brothers Jim Deaton of Girdler and Denver Deaton of Cannon; one sister: Betty Epperson of Ohio; two granddaughters: Felicia Gittens and husband Brian of Nashville, Tennesse and Natasha Deaton and fiancé Justin Mahan of Girdler; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
The funeral service for Earnest Deaton will be conducted on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. He will be laid to rest in Hammons Cemetery at Greenroad with Brian Gittens, Justin Mahan, Timothy Smith, Bobby Deaton, Rodney Stewart and Steven Stewart serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM and on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10:00AM until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home.
