Edwin James Skoch, age 73, of Put in Bay, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014. He was born February 28, 1941. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Abigail, his father, Edwin Anthony, and his mother, Helen. He is survived by his three children Edwin A., (Laura), Wendy and Coralee; as well as his five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mallorie, Zander, Olivia and Lucy.

Edwin retired nine years ago after spending 30 years as a biology professor at John Carroll University. A proud graduate of St. Ignatius High School, John Carroll University, and The Ohio State University, he spent his life focused on Lake Erie, both with ecology studies and then with the sailboat racing. Edwin and his wife spent countless years helping to grow the sailing community along Lake Erie by being involved at Put in Bay Yacht Club and Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. Their main focus was the junior sailing program and worked diligently for the Inter -Lake Yachting Associations adult and junior sailing programs.

There will be a gathering of friends and family Sunday, November 9, 2014 from noon till 2 pm at Edgewater Yacht Club, 6700 Memorial Shoreway NW, Cleveland OH 44102.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 Saint Clair Ave. Cleveland OH 44110.
