Elaine (Moreau) Carey, 67, passed away at Hartford Hospital on August 9, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 16, 1949 in Hartford to the late Ernest "Pete" and Dorothy (Cummings) Moreau. Elaine was a lifelong resident of East Hartford. She graduated Penney High School in 1967 and attended the New England School of Banking at Williams College in Massachusetts. Elaine worked for Connecticut Bank and Trust (CBT) for many years before retiring as Vice President of Trust Accounts. Elaine was involved in her community sitting on various committees such as Town Planning and Zoning and the Patriotic Commission. Elaine was a dedicated democrat always supporting the party from local level to presidential. Elaine enjoyed Motown music, thoroughbred horse racing and muscle cars. She cherished her 1967 GTO the most. She also enjoyed spending summers at their family cottage (Kincot) in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Elaine was a lover of all animals. Over the years she took in many, ranging from dogs and cats, to rabbits and birds and even deer. Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 41years, Joseph D. Carey, Jr. of East Hartford. She is also survived by her four children
and their families, her son Joseph D. Carey III of Wethersfield and his children Jesse, Joseph IV "Danny" and Jordyn, her daughter Alanna R. Carey of Glastonbury, her daughter Johanna D. Carey-Lang and her husband Aaron of East Hartford and their children Christopher, Grace, Danielle, Charles "Charlie" and Donna Ann and her son Charlton "Charlie" Carey and his partner Jordyn Cooney of East Hartford and their children Taryn and a new baby on the way. She is also survived by her sister Susan Olson and her husband Lee of Coventry. Elaine was predeceased by her brother Lester "Les" Moreau and her aunt Rose (Cummings) Fitzgerald and her husband Kenneth. She also leaves behind other family members including her nieces, nephews and many friends. Calling hours will be on Tuesday August 16, 2016 at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CTfrom 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Services will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Glastonbury Funeral Home followed by burial at Village Cemetery in Wethersfield.
