LOUISVILLE, KY/ JANESVILLE--- Eleanore E. Hensel, 82, of Janesville, Wisconsin and most recently of Louisville, KY, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012, at home. Eleanore was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Dewey and Minnie O'Flanagan and was the second of seven children. Throughout her life she always treasured her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and great-aunt. She always showed unconditional love and acceptance, had kind words to say, and greeted everyone with a warm smile. She never met a stranger. During her life, she had memorable experiences working with great people in her various jobs, including working in the lab at both Abbott's Dairy (Cameron, WI) and the City Health Department (Janesville), as well as at Amphenol and Parker Pen in Janesville until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed her retirement and spent time travelling with her daughter, taking long walks, cooking, baking, reading, and crocheting many warm and beautiful afghans for her friends and family. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for 50 years. Eleanore was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed; sisters Delores Severson (Palmer), Betty Stone (Bob), Darlene Riek (Cletus), Patricia O'Flanagan; and brothers, Don and Jerry O'Flanagan. She is survived by her daughter, Karen and her son-in-law, Greg Lindauer of Louisville, KY; her nieces: Gloria Vreeland of Superior, WI; Cheryl Fallon (Bob) of Orlando, FL; Diane Clark (Ellis) of Janesville; Sue Downing (Al) of Decatur, IN; Jean Havenor (Pat) and Julie McLain (Lee) of Rice Lake, WI; nephew, Don Oswald (Beth) of Milton, WI and great- nieces and nephews. Eleanore lived with her daughter, Karen and son-in-law, Greg in Louisville, KY for the last 22 months of her life. They treasured the time they spent together these past months and were inspired by her strong faith and gracious spirit. Karen and Greg extend a special thanks to El's neighbors in Janesville, Dan & Laura James; to her lifelong friend, Pauline Aspevig; her niece Diane; and for her Faith Lutheran Church family as they supported us all through her illness and helped in many ways. El's family is also very grateful to Alicia Dailey for ministering to her with prayers, anointing and communion so faithfully during her time in Louisville. A Memorial Service celebrating Eleanore's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Janesville with Pastor Anne Andert officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Eleanore's name to Faith Lutheran Church, Janesville.
