Elic Garland (E. G.) Sanders Jr was born to Elic Garland Sanders and Lettie Emily Sanders on February 7, 1933 at Lefors, Texas. The family moved to Samnorwood, Texas the following year and lived there for eight years. He attended his first three of school there.
The family moved to Amarillo in 1942 where E. G. entered the fourth grade at Margaret Wills grade school, then on to Sam Houston Jr High and Amarillo High and graduated in 1951. He was active in various sports during his public school years.
He spent his first year of college at Texas A&M University before transferring to The University of Texas. He graduated from there with a BAA degree in Finance. In 1956 he entered the U. S. Army at Fort Smith, Arkansas and completed clerk-typist school before assigned to Nancy Ordnance Depot in Nancy, France. He served as bookkeeper of the sergeants Club and Officers Club. After two years in the Army he spent most of his adult career as an accountant with Southwestern Public Service Company and Sav-A-Stop, Inc. His latter years were spent managing his rental apartments.
PRECEEDED: He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Sanders of Canadian and his wife, Natalie; a sister, Nadine Sanders of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Laing of Acampo, California and her husband, Bob.
SURVIVORS: Survivors include three nephews; Bill Sanders of Inverness, Florida and his wife Lala; Ben Sanders of Amarillo; and Donnie Morrow of Galveston; two nieces; Mary Munnecke of Acampo, California and her husband Doug; Jo Ann Laing of Acampo, California.
E.G. was never-married lifelong bachelor and a member of the San Jacinto Church of Christ. Memorial and burial services will be private. It is suggested that memorials be given to your favorite charity.
