Elizabeth Marie Pointer of Hamilton passed away on August 16, 2017.
Mrs. Pointer, known to everyone as Marie, was born on June 27, 1917 in Ireland Texas. Her parents were the late Osman Fletcher Trammell and Lydia Minerva Morrow Trammell. She was the youngest of ten children. She spent her childhood on a farm where they grew almost everything they needed and she attributed part of her longevity to her upbringing. Her lifelong love of music began when she learned to play piano at a young age and she and her siblings often entertained themselves by singing and playing instruments. Although only 5' 3" she enjoyed playing on the high school girls basketball team and she graduated from Hamilton High School in 1936.
She married J.T. Pointer on July 23, 1938 and they had four children. Mr. Pointer was employed by the Texas Highway Department, and they also owned and operated the School Hut Cafe for many years, as well as farmed and ranched their property on the Leon River. Mrs. Pointer was well known for her fabulous pies which were served in many Hamilton restaurants. After her retirement, she enjoyed, cooking, sewing, gardening, and dancing. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband J.T. Pointer, her daughter Carol Marie Griffin, and her grandson Scott Allen Griffin.
She is survived by her sons Preston and Crystal Pointer of Fort Worth, David Pointer of Hamilton and Tom Pointer of Austin, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was an exceptionally sweet lady and will be deeply missed by her family.
